Reproducibility instructions

A. DATA AVAILABILITY
The hotel data used in this study was webscrapped from booking.com, a hotel reservation website.
The python code used to perform the webscrapping is available here:  https://github.com/Ridvanov-Belochevski/Hotel_Price_Analysis/blob/main/hotels.py
The tourism competitiveness data comes from the Top 100 City Destination Index 2021, an index freely and publicly downloadable at https://www.euromonitor.com/ 
The hotel and tourism competitiveness datasets are included in this reproducibility package.

B. INSTRUCTIONS TO REPRODUCE THE PAPER
1. Open the STATA file 'reprod_analysis.do'.
2. Change the file path in line 2 to the current working directory on current computer.
3. Run 'reprod_analysis.do'. If the script runs entirely and correctly, the following files will be added to the current working directory.
	'hotel_data_for_py.dta'
	'Figure_4'
	'Figure_5'
	'Figure_6'
	'hetero.txt'
	'hetero.xml'
	'price_det.txt'
	'price_det.xml'
	
4. Confirm that the 'hotel_data_for_py.dta' has been saved in the current working directory.
5. Open the Python Script 'descriptives.py'.
6. Change the file path in line 21 to the current working directory on current computer.
7. Run 'descriptives.py'. If the script runs entirely and correctly, the following files should be added to the current working directory.
	'Figure_2.png'
	'Figure_3.png'



C. GENERAL NOTES
1. The file 'price_det.xml' contains the regression results presented in Table 5 of the paper.
2. The file 'hetero.xml' contains the regression results presented in Table 6 of the paper.
3. Figures produced by the python and STATA scripts are named with the curresponding figures that they represent in the paper.
