    Abstract

    This technical note provides updated poverty trends for India using international poverty lines and documents the methodology for generating the corresponding welfare aggregates, poverty, and inequality estimates, using data from the Household Consumption Expenditure Survey (CES) 2022-23 and the 2011-12 CES.

    Technology environment

    Paper exhibits were reproduced on a computer with the following specifications:
    – Windows 10 Enterprise
    – Processor INTEL(R) XEON(R) PLATINUM 8562Y+, 2800 Mhz, 16 Core(s), 16 Logical Processor(s)
    – Memory available: 128 GB
    – Software version: Stata 18 MP, R 4.4.1

    Reproduction instructions

    To reproduce the exhibits in this report, a new user must follow these steps:

    1. Obtain access to the data that is not included in the package, and place it in the appropriate folder as indicated in the folder structure.
    2. Open the main .do file, update the file path accordingly, and run the code to generate the main outputs.
    3. To reproduce the appendix exhibits, open the R project, restore the environment using renv::restore(), and run the code.

    Note:
    Since the data is not included in the reproducibility package, the folder contains all figures and tables produced by the replicators. These can be reviewed and compared with the published report.

The name of the downloaded file will be Unit level data of HCES 2022-23 round zip folder; Then the user needs to extract and open some files using Nesstar Explorer and then save them in the raw→ces folder.
