The indicators draw on 35 cross-country data sources, including firm and household surveys as well as expert assessments.\n \nIn 2025, the project underwent a comprehensive methodological review \u2014 known as WGI 2.0 \u2014 to strengthen each building block of the framework: source screening, indicator selection, and aggregation. The updated approach refined and refocused the pool of data sources, aligned indicators more closely with the institutional functions underlying each governance dimension, and revised the aggregation model to allow global governance trends to vary over time.
