We study the impacts of dual apprenticeships on youth employment over 7 years in a developing economy where informality prevails. Dual apprenticeships increase youth earnings by 14%-20%, with sustained post-program effects. Gains are observed at the bottom of the distribution, with fewer \"working poor'' who earn less than the formal minimum wage. Earnings increase most in self-employment, with limited changes in wage employment. Youth perform more complex and non-routine tasks, consistent with higher technical skills and productivity. \n","geographic_units":[{"name":"C\u00f4te d'Ivoire","code":"CIV"}],"keywords":[{"name":"Employment"},{"name":"Working Poverty"},{"name":"Apprenticeship"},{"name":"Training"},{"name":"Vocational Training"},{"name":"Field Experiment"},{"name":"Africa"}],"topics":[{"id":"J24","uri":"https:\/\/www.aeaweb.org\/econlit\/jelCodes.php?view=jel","vocabulary":"Journal of Economic Literature (JEL)","name":"Human Capital \u2022 Skills \u2022 Occupational Choice \u2022 Labor Productivity","parent_id":"J2"},{"id":" O12","uri":"https:\/\/www.aeaweb.org\/econlit\/jelCodes.php?view=jel","vocabulary":"Journal of Economic Literature (JEL)","name":"Microeconomic Analyses of Economic Development","parent_id":"O1"},{"id":" C93","uri":"https:\/\/www.aeaweb.org\/econlit\/jelCodes.php?view=jel","vocabulary":"Journal of Economic Literature (JEL)","name":"Field Experiments","parent_id":"C9"}],"output":[{"type":"Journal Article","description":"Journal Articles","title":"From Training to Earning: The 7-Year Impact of Dual Apprenticeships on Youth Employment"}],"language":[{"name":"English","code":"EN"}],"technology_requirements":"Run time: ~ 2.5 hours","disclaimer":"The materials in the reproducibility packages are distributed as they were prepared by the staff of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development\/The World Bank.
