It uses a cluster randomized control trial to evaluate a pilot program implemented in 101 Brazilian municipal schools in 2015. The findings show positive impacts on financial proficiency, mainly among middle school students, and suggestive evidence of improvements in short-term behavioral outcomes. However, the analysis indicates that the program did not impact students\u2019 school achievements in both the short and longer terms, which suggests that the program\u2019s effects were not strong enough to shift students\u2019 behavior decisions.","geographic_units":[{"name":"Brazil","code":"BRA"}],"topics":[{"id":"D14","name":"Household Saving \u2022 Personal Finance","vocabulary":"JEL Classifications","uri":"https:\/\/www.aeaweb.org\/econlit\/jelCodes.php"},{"id":"I21","name":"Analysis of Education","vocabulary":"JEL Classifications","uri":"https:\/\/www.aeaweb.org\/econlit\/jelCodes.php"},{"id":"I25","vocabulary":"JEL Classifications","uri":"https:\/\/www.aeaweb.org\/econlit\/jelCodes.php","name":"Education and Economic Development"},{"id":"O12","vocabulary":"JEL Classifications","uri":"https:\/\/www.aeaweb.org\/econlit\/jelCodes.php","name":"Microeconomic Analyses of Economic Development"},{"id":"O15","vocabulary":"JEL Classifications","uri":"https:\/\/www.aeaweb.org\/econlit\/jelCodes.php","name":"Human Resources \u2022 Human Development \u2022 Income Distribution \u2022 Migration"}],"output":[{"type":"Working paper","title":"Experimental Evaluation of a Financial Education Program in Elementary and Middle School Grades","authors":"Caio Piza, Isabela Furtado, Vivian Amorim","description":"Policy Research Working Paper (PRWP)","doi":" https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1596\/1813-9450-10511","uri":"https:\/\/openknowledge.worldbank.org\/handle\/10986\/40022"}],"language":[{"name":"English","code":"EN"}],"data_statement":"This paper uses both public and confidential data.
