This report introduces the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Indicators 2.0 (LPI 2.0), marking a methodological transition from perception-based surveys to the exclusive use of objective, shipment-level tracking data across maritime, aviation, and postal modes. By analyzing speed, reliability, and connectivity, the LPI 2.0 reveals a persistent performance gap between high-income and developing nations, particularly highlighting the structural disadvantages faced by landlocked developing countries (LLDCs) and small island states. Key findings indicate that while direct maritime connections significantly improve lead times indicators, many low- and middle-income countries struggle with excessive import dwell times due to inefficient customs processes and limited automation.

Since some of the data used in the analysis are restricted, part of the code was run by the authors on a secure high-performance server because the restricted data could not be copied or moved outside that environment, so the reproducibility review was conducted through virtual verification following the Virtual Reproducibility Verification Protocol.
Because access to the restricted data will not be possible for most users, this package includes all the code and outputs used in the analysis for transparency purposes. The outputs generated by the author were reviewed and verified by the reproducibility team. These files can be used to validate the results presented in the report.
All figures presented in the methodological note and some in the report rely on publicly available indicator data “LPI enriched db all indicators.parquet”, which is included in the package. Refer to the README for detailed information on how each exhibit maps to the underlying data and code.
Some data is restricted and has not been included in the reproducibility package. For more details, please refer to the README file.
