    Abstract

    Women, Business and the Law 2024 introduces new measurements of progress toward legal gender
    equality in 190 economies. The 10th in a series, it presents two sets of data: Women, Business and the
    Law 1.0 and an expanded version, Women, Business and the Law 2.0. For the first time, the assessment
    goes beyond the laws on the books—de jure—to examine the frameworks supporting implementation
    of the law and to gauge experts’ opinions on the outcome of the laws for women—de facto. In doing
    so, it now covers 10 indicators: Safety, Mobility, Workplace, Pay, Marriage, Parenthood, Childcare,
    Entrepreneurship, Assets, and Pension.

    • OS: Windows 11 Enterprise, version 21H2
    • Processor: Intel(R) Xeon(R) Gold 6226R CPU @ 2.90GHz, 16 Core(s)
    • Memory available: 15.7 GB
    • Software version: Stata 18, R 4.3.2

    Reproduction instructions

    To successfully reproduce the analysis, follow these steps:

    1. Set the username and the global paths in lines 18 -19 of the dofile “main”
    2. Run main do-file sequentially, and switch from 0 to 1 to run the following do-files in lines 57-60 of the dofile “main” : “WBL 2024_Report_DataCreation.do”, “WBL2024_Report_ES_Chapter1.do”, “WBL2024_Report_Chapter2.do”, “WBL2024_Report_Chapter3.do”
    3. Open the R project and run the R Script “WBL2024_Report_ES_Chapter3.R” to produce the remaining graphs
